An outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza has occurred in Tediwa

         

         According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on 10 August 2021, the Veterinary Services

Department of cote d ‘Ivoire’s Ministry of Animal Resources reported to OIE an outbreak of highly pathogenic

H5N1 avian influenza in Cote d ‘Ivoire.  

        The outbreak occurred in Grand Bassam, South Comoe Region, and was confirmed on 29 July 2021.  The

source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain.  Clinical, autopsy and laboratory tests showed 76,613 birds

were suspected to have been infected, of which 43,410 fell ill and died.
