Gabon outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza
According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on May 19, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture of Gabon informed OIE that there was an outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in Gabon. The outbreak occurred in Noah, Hekou Province, and was confirmed on May 14, 2022.The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain.After clinical and laboratory tests, it was found that 15,500 birds were suspected of being infected, and all of them became ill and died.
