There has been an outbreak of the H5N3 strain of low-pathogenic avian influenza in the UK

According to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), on 29 March 2021, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs notified the OIE of an outbreak of low-pathogenicity avian influenza in the UK.

The outbreak occurred in Chester, West Cheshire, England, and was confirmed on 28 March 2021.The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain.Laboratory tests have found 4,540 birds suspected of being infected.

The outbreak is not over yet and Defra will be reporting on it weekly.
